When the user types Ctrl+G, the next character typed is usually transformed into something different than the key that was pressed. If the next character is a letter, then it is transformed into either lowercase or uppercase Greek. If the next character is not a letter, then it can be transformed into another kind of symbol, some of which can be defined by the user. The Special Shortcuts dialog, available in the Settings menu, lets the user define characters that are inserted into an equation when Ctrl+G is followed by a number key.
As shown in the above image, the Special Shortcuts dialog lists the ten numerical digits and the Unicode character generated for each one after Ctrl+G is typed. You may enter any Unicode characters you want here as hexadecimal values. For entries left blank, the corresponding number is passed through unchanged.
