When the current mode is MATH or CHEM, Radical Pie recognizes a set of standard function names such as “sin” and ”log”. If one of these names is detected as you’re typing, then the role for the characters making up the name is automatically changed to Standard Function. This causes the characters to be typeset in the upright style, and it causes a little space to be added before and after the function name.
The list of function names recognized by Radical Pie can be modified by selecting Standard Functions... from the Settings menu. The dialog that appears, shown below, contains a list of built-in function names that are always recognized, and a list of user-defined function names that can be changed. To add a new function, type its name in the text box and hit the Add button. To remove a function name, select it in the list and hit the Remove button. The Load Factory Defaults button will restore the entire list of user-defined functions to its original setting.
When Radical Pie detects a standard function name and changes its role, an additional undo state is created. This makes it possible to easily remove the standard function role in unusual cases when you don’t want it to be typeset as a function by simply typing Ctrl+Z to undo.
The amount of space added before and after a function name can be specified in the Symbols panel of the Equation Design dialog.
