Insert Matrix

Basic matrices up to 4×4 entries in size can be added to an equation by using the matrices palette. To add a larger matrix to an equation, or to set its initial properties, use the Insert Matrix dialog, shown below. This dialog can be opened by selecting Insert Matrix... from either the matrices palette or the Equation menu or by typing the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Alt+M.
